MACHINERY BREAKDOWN INSURANCE

Introduction

Plant and machinery is vulnerable to breakdown or damage irrespective of its quality or reliability. On top of this any small disaster e.g fracture of a flywheel may result in an expensive loss involving several machines. Further, replacements are proving increasingly expensive.

Scope of Cover
The Company’s MB Policy covers Sudden and Unforeseen Damage to the insured machine whilst either at work or rest and during cleaning, inspection, over hauling or removal to another position within the premise.

The sudden and unforeseen damage include:

• Faulty material, design, construction and erection
• Vibration, maladjustment or mal-alignment
• Defective lubrication, loosening of parts
• Excessive electrical pressure
• Short circuit or electrical arcing
• Carelessness or malicious acts

The main elements of the insurance are electrical and mechanical breakdown and accidental damage from extraneous causes. It excludes gradual damage and loss from foreseeable causes .
